Alternatives to PC’s in the classroom.
The 10 OLPC XO’s that I am working with have finally had a “real” OS installed. Instead of the pre installed Sugar, I have upgraded to a full blown Fedora Linux install. The impact has been massive — whilst they are still not the snappiest sub netbook out there, they are now functional as traditional PC’s.
The acid test will of course be the learners when they get their hands on them during the first week of term — I’ll update then.
